Biography

John Daly (1937–2008) was a British film producer and distributor. Born in London, he co-founded the entertainment company Hemdale with actor David Hemmings in 1967. The firm began by managing rock bands before moving into film production and distribution.

Through Hemdale, Daly produced or executive produced numerous films, including The Terminator (1984), Platoon (1986), The Last Emperor (1987) and Hoosiers (1986). Films associated with his companies received 13 Academy Awards for best picture. He later served as chairman of Film and Music Entertainment Inc. and produced, co-wrote and directed The Aryan Couple (2004).
