Biography
John Du Prez is a British composer, conductor and musician. Born Trevor Jones on 14 December 1946 in Sheffield, he later adopted his professional name to avoid confusion with another composer. He studied at Christ Church, Oxford, and worked as a music lecturer at the University of London before entering film scoring in the late 1970s.
Du Prez has collaborated extensively with members of Monty Python, notably composing the score for Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983) and contributing to Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979). His other film work includes A Fish Called Wanda (1988), the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy (1990–1993) and UHF (1989). He co-wrote the music for the stage musical Spamalot (2004), for which he received a Tony Award nomination.
