Biography

John Entwistle (9 October 1944 – 27 June 2002) was an English musician and actor, best known as the bass guitarist for the rock band The Who. He appeared as himself in the concert film Woodstock (1970).

Entwistle performed with The Who at major events including Woodstock and Live Aid, and featured in the band's rock opera film Tommy (1975). He also provided a voice cameo as himself in an episode of The Simpsons (1989). His work with the band led to induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
