Biography
John Heffernan is a British actor born on 30 June 1981 in Billericay, Essex. He trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London and began his career with walk-on roles at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
He has worked extensively in theatre, appearing with the English Touring Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre. Notable stage roles include the title parts in Edward II at the National Theatre and Oppenheimer with the RSC.
On screen he has appeared in films including Eye in the Sky (2015), Crooked House (2017), Official Secrets (2019) as James Welch, Misbehaviour (2020) and The Duke (2021). Television credits include Luther (2010) as Steven Rose, Outlander (2014), The Crown (2016) as Lord Altrincham, Brexit: The Uncivil War (2019), Dracula (2020) and Misbehaviour (2020).
