Biography
John Hoffman was a Hungarian-born American film editor, montage specialist and occasional director. He began his career in the art department at Universal Pictures, contributing uncredited set design work to Dracula (1931) alongside Herman Rosse.
Hoffman later became known for creating montage sequences for numerous Hollywood features in the 1930s and 1940s. He directed several films, including The Crimson Canary (1945), The Wreck of the Hesperus (1948) and The Lone Wolf and His Lady (1949), and edited pictures such as Five (1951) and War Hunt (1962). He also collaborated on experimental shorts with Slavko Vorkapich.
