Biography
John Noble is an Australian actor. Born on 20 August 1948 in Port Pirie, South Australia, he began his career in theatre and served as artistic director of the Stage Company of South Australia for ten years from 1977.
He is known for portraying Denethor in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (extended edition, 2002) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). On television he played Dr Walter Bishop in Fringe (2008–2013), Henry Parrish in Sleepy Hollow (2013–2017) and Morland Holmes in Elementary (2015–2019). He has also appeared in The Blacklist, Severance and voiced characters in animated series and video games.
Noble received ensemble cast awards for his work in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, including from the National Board of Review, the Screen Actors Guild and the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
