Biography
John Romano is an American screenwriter and television writer and producer. Born on 2 October 1948 in Newark, New Jersey, he graduated from Colgate University and holds a PhD from Yale University in English and comparative literature. Before moving to Los Angeles in 1986, he taught English at Columbia University and published the book Dickens and Reality.
Romano joined the writing staff of Hill Street Blues in 1986 and received an Emmy nomination for the series finale. His television credits include Party of Five, Third Watch, Monk, Banshee and Hell on Wheels. He created the series Class of ’96, Sweet Justice and Michael Hayes. Film screenwriting credits include The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), Nights in Rodanthe (2008), Intolerable Cruelty (2003) and American Pastoral (2016).
