Biography
John Watson is a British film and television producer and screenwriter. He was born in Poyntington, Dorset, and educated at Sherborne School and Churchill College, University of Cambridge. He is the son of the Somerset cricketer of the same name.
Watson has collaborated extensively with Pen Densham through their production companies Insight Productions and Trilogy Entertainment Group. He co-wrote the screenplay for and produced Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), and produced Backdraft (1991). His other producing credits include Blown Away (1994), Tank Girl (1995), Phantom (2013), The Last Full Measure (2020) and executive producer roles on Harriet (2019) and Carrie (2002). In television he executive-produced series including seven seasons of The Outer Limits (1995–2002) and developed The Magnificent Seven (1998–2000). He has also written screenplays with Densham and is a professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
