Biography
John Wray, also credited as John Griffith Malloy, was an American character actor of stage and screen. He performed in numerous Broadway productions beginning in 1913, including Hamlet and The Merchant of Venice.
Wray moved to Hollywood in the late 1920s with the transition to sound films. His screen roles included Himmelstoss in All Quiet on the Western Front (1930), the farmer in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), the warden in You Only Live Once (1937), and appearances in Gone with the Wind (1939) and The Cat and the Canary (1939). He died in Los Angeles in 1940.
