Biography
Johnny Haymer was an American actor. Born Haymer Lionel Flieg in St Louis, Missouri, he graduated from the University of Missouri in 1942 with a degree in speech. He began his career in nightclubs and as a comedian and musical theatre performer, appearing in the 1956 Broadway revue New Faces of '56.
Haymer appeared in numerous television series from the 1960s onwards, including a recurring role as Staff Sergeant Zelmo Zale in MASH (1974–1979). His other credits include Star Trek (1969) as The Constable, Annie Hall (1977) as a comic, ...And Justice for All (1979) as Crenna, and voice roles in The Transformers (1984–1987). He also played Walter Pinkerton in the series Madame's Place (1982–1983) and The Interviewer in Cagney & Lacey* (1982). Haymer won a Clio Award for a breakfast cereal commercial. He died in Los Angeles in 1989.
