Biography
Joseph Mydell is an American screen and stage actor. Born in Savannah, Georgia, he trained at New York University, where he earned BFA and MFA degrees, and began his professional career in New York with the New York Shakespeare Festival and Lincoln Center Theatre.
He has worked extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre. In 1994 he received the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Perestroika at the National Theatre.
Mydell's film roles include Mark in Manderlay (2005), Bill in The Eternal Daughter (2022) and Nakitanda in Conclave (2024). Television appearances include Homeland (2014), Midsomer Murders (2016) and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (2018).
