Biography
Joseph Trapanese is an American composer, conductor, arranger and music producer. Born in New Jersey in 1984, he studied composition at the Manhattan School of Music and earned an M.A. in music for visual media at UCLA, where he taught electronic music and composition from 2008 to 2011.
Trapanese began his film work collaborating with Daft Punk on the score for Tron: Legacy (2010). He has since composed for The Raid (2012, with Mike Shinoda), The Raid 2 (2014), Oblivion (2013, with M83), Straight Outta Compton (2015), for which he received a Black Reel Award, and The Greatest Showman (2017, with John Debney). His television credits include The Witcher and Shadow and Bone. He is also credited on the forthcoming film Whalefall (2026).
