Biography
Jun Fukuda (福田純) was a Japanese film director, screenwriter and producer. He joined Toho in 1946 and worked as an assistant director on films including Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto (1954), Rodan (1956) and entries in the Samurai trilogy, before making his directorial debut in 1959.
Fukuda directed five Godzilla films for Toho, beginning with Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966) and Son of Godzilla (1967). He also directed entries in the Young Guy series, spy films such as Ironfinger (1965), and other productions including Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972), Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973) and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974). His final feature was The War in Space (1977).
Fukuda was born on 17 February 1923 in Changchun, China, and died on 3 December 2000 in Setagaya, Tokyo.
