Biography

Kathleen Detoro is an American costume designer who has worked in film, television and theatre. Born in 1958 and raised in Connecticut, she graduated from the Pratt Institute and studied at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute.

She is best known for designing the costumes for the first four seasons of the television series Breaking Bad (2008–2011), including the pilot, in collaboration with creator Vince Gilligan. Her other credits include the films Scream 2 (1997), Hard Rain (1998) and The Guest (2014), as well as the series Grimm (2011) and Vegas (2012). Detoro has received two Costume Designers Guild Award nominations, and costumes from Breaking Bad are held in the collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
