Biography
Keiko Takeshita (竹下景子) is a Japanese actress. She was born on 15 September 1953 in Higashi-ku, Nagoya, and graduated from Tokyo Woman’s Christian University.
She is known for voice roles in several Studio Ghibli films, including Sadako Maki in The Secret World of Arrietty (2010), Hana Matsuzaki in From Up on Poppy Hill (2011), Jirô's mother in The Wind Rises (2013), and Izumi in The Boy and the Heron (2023). Her live-action credits include A Class to Remember (1993) and the long-running series Kita no Kuni kara (1981–2002).
Takeshita has received awards including the Elan d'or Newcomer of the Year in 1978 and the Nikkan Sports Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1993. She has been married to Teruo Sekiguchi since 1984.
