Biography

Kristofer Hivju is a Norwegian actor. He was born in Oslo on 7 December 1978 and trained at the Danish division of the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS), graduating in 2004. He began his career in Norwegian theatre and television before appearing in films such as Manhunt (2008) and The Thing (2011).

Hivju is best known for playing Tormund Giantsbane in the HBO series Game of Thrones (2013–2019). His other film credits include Force Majeure (2014), The Fate of the Furious (2017), Cocaine Bear (2023) as Olaf, The Gentlemen (2024) and Red One (2024) as Krampus. He received the Guldbagge Award for Best Supporting Actor for Force Majeure.

He is the son of actors Erik Hivju and Lieselotte Holmene, and is married to Gry Molvær Hivju.
