Biography
Kumi Mizuno is a Japanese actress. Born Maya Igarashi on 1 January 1937 in Niigata, Japan, she graduated from the acting school of the Haiyuza Theater Company and made her screen debut in 1957 in Crazy Society.
She appeared in numerous Toho films in the 1960s, including Matango (1963) as Mami Sekiguchi, Frankenstein Conquers the World (1965) as Dr. Sueko Togami, Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965) as Miss Namikawa, Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966) as Dayo, and The War of the Gargantuas (1966) as Akemi Togawa. She returned to the Godzilla series as Prime Minister Machiko Tsuge in Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla (2002) and as Commander Akiko Namikawa in Godzilla: Final Wars (2004).
Mizuno received the Kinuyo Tanaka Award in 2017.
