Biography
Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, also credited as Laure de Clermont, is a French actress and director born on 26 July 1983 in Paris. She is the daughter of film producers Antoine and Martine de Clermont-Tonnerre. She studied history at the Sorbonne and trained as an actress at the Cours Florent and Cours Éva-Saint-Paul.
She began acting in French films and television in the 1990s and 2000s, with roles including in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) and The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec (2010). She later transitioned to directing and screenwriting, making shorts such as Rabbit (2014) before her feature debut The Mustang (2019), which she also co-wrote. She has directed episodes of the series The Act (2019), Mrs. America (2020) and American Crime Story (2021), as well as the feature Lady Chatterley's Lover (2022). She is directing episodes of the forthcoming series East of Eden (2026). The Mustang brought her the Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award and other honours for a first feature.
