Biography
Leo Tover (1902–1964) was an American cinematographer. He began his career in 1918 as a clapper boy and camera assistant, becoming a director of photography in 1926. He worked primarily under contract to Paramount and 20th Century Fox.
Tover received Academy Award nominations for his cinematography on Hold Back the Dawn (1941) and The Heiress (1949). His other credits include The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), The Snake Pit (1948), Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) and The Tall Men (1955). He served in the US Army Signal Corps Photographic Center during the Second World War.
