Biography
Leon Ichaso (3 August 1948 – 21 May 2023) was a Cuban-born American film and television director and writer. Born in Havana, he emigrated with his mother and sister to Mexico as a teenager before settling in New York, where his father later joined the family.
Ichaso made his feature debut co-directing the Spanish-language film El Super (1979). He went on to direct episodes of series including Miami Vice (1984), on which he also received a story credit, Crime Story, The Equalizer, Medium, Criminal Minds and Queen of the South. His feature films include Sugar Hill (1994), Piñero (2001) and El Cantante (2006). He died of a heart attack in Santa Monica, California.
