Biography
Lisa Gunning is a British film editor and director. She graduated from University College London with a degree in English and began her career in the 1990s editing commercials. In 1998 she met director Anthony Minghella while working on a Comic Relief spot, leading to a long collaboration that included editing his feature Breaking and Entering (2006) and the pilot for the television series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.
Gunning has edited features including Killshot (2008), Nowhere Boy (2009), Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011), Seven Psychopaths (2012) and Fifty Shades of Grey (2015). She has also directed short films, music videos and episodes of television series such as The Power (2021) and Black Doves (2024). In 2013–2014 she wrote, directed and edited a film based on stories from Goldfrapp’s album Tales of Us.
