Biography
Lizzie Hopley is a British actress and writer born in Liverpool. She trained at the University of Manchester and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
Her screen credits include the role of Dorothea Waddingham in the 2005 film Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman, Miss Abbot in the 2011 adaptation of Jane Eyre, Angela Kelly in The Crown, Dr Joy Harris in Luther, and appearances in Black Doves (2024), Blitz (2024), Time (2021), Brassic and Vera. Theatre work includes productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Cheek by Jowl.
As a writer, Hopley has created one-woman plays such as Pramface and numerous audio dramas for Big Finish Productions, including many Doctor Who stories. She has also written radio plays for BBC Radio.
