Biography
Louis Guss (4 January 1918 – 29 September 2008) was an American character actor. Born in New York City, he appeared in hundreds of television series, feature films and stage productions over a career spanning five decades, often in blue-collar ethnic roles.
He is known for roles including Don Zaluchi in The Godfather (1972), the Newsvendor in Highlander (1986), Raymond Capomaggi in Moonstruck (1987), and Nathan Grodner in The Yards (2000). His final screen role was as a court clerk in Find Me Guilty (2006). Guss appeared on Broadway from 1954 in productions including The Girl on the Via Flaminia, The Night of the Iguana and Mother Courage and Her Children.
