Biography
Marcela Said is a Franco-Chilean film director and screenwriter. She obtained a degree in aesthetics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and later studied film and media at the Paris-Sorbonne University after moving to France in 1997.
Said began her career with political documentaries, including Valparaíso (1999), I Love Pinochet (2001) and El mocito (2011, co-directed with Jean de Certeau), the last of which screened at the Berlinale Forum. Her feature films The Summer of Flying Fish (2013) and Los Perros (2017) premiered at the Directors' Fortnight and Cannes Critics' Week respectively. She has directed episodes of the television series Narcos: Mexico (2020), Lupin (2021), Gangs of London (2022) and Dope Thief (2025).
