Biography

Marcus Trumpp is a German composer and orchestrator. Born on 16 March 1974 in Stuttgart, he began playing the piano at the age of four and composed his first piece at eight. After graduating from high school in 1993, he wrote the theatre musical Metropol, which was performed in Stuttgart. His first film score was for the 1994 German picture My Grandfather and The Man in the Moon.

In 1998 Trumpp attended the Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television Program at the University of Southern California. He has since written, orchestrated and recorded music for films, television, commercials and multimedia, working in the United States, Germany, England and China. He has also composed concert works, including The Manipulator Suite, which premiered in Munich in 2001. He resides in Los Angeles.

Trumpp is known for his scores for Plane (2023), Fear Street: 1994 (2021) and Fear Street Part Three: 1666 (2021), Love and Monsters (2020), The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death (2014) and the Mesrine films (2008). He has frequently collaborated with composer Marco Beltrami and director Jean-François Richet, including on Mutiny (2026).
