Biography
Marc Butan is an American film producer and chief executive of MadRiver Pictures, a Santa Monica-based production company he founded in 2015.
He previously served as co-president of Sierra/Affinity, president of Panorama Media and of 2929 Productions, and executive vice president of production at Lionsgate. Earlier in his career he worked as a media and entertainment investment banker at Kidder, Peabody & Co. and Prudential Financial. Butan is a native of Dayton, Ohio, and an alumnus of Ohio State University.
His production credits include Ad Astra (2019), The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020), Plane (2023), The Lost City of Z (2017), Triple 9 (2016) and Mutiny (2026).
