Biography
Mariette Hartley is an American actress. Born Mary Loretta Hartley on 21 June 1940 in Weston, Connecticut, she trained at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and studied with Eva Le Gallienne at the White Barn Theatre and with John Houseman at the Repertory Stratford.
She made her film debut in Sam Peckinpah's Ride the High Country (1962) and appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie (1964) and John Sturges's Marooned (1969). On television she played Sandra Horn in the The Twilight Zone episode 'The Long Morrow' (1964), Zarabeth in Star Trek (1969), and Dr Carolyn Fields in The Incredible Hulk (1978), for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award. She is also known for a long-running series of Polaroid commercials with James Garner in the 1970s and 1980s, and for later guest roles in series including Grey's Anatomy and The Mentalist.
