Biography
Mark Shivas was a British television and film producer. He began his career as a film critic and assistant editor at Movie magazine before joining Granada Television in 1964. He moved to the BBC as a drama producer in 1969 and later served as head of drama from 1988 to 1993 and head of films from 1993 to 1997.
Shivas produced The Storyteller (1988) and Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads (1988). His other credits include The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1970), A Private Function (1984), The Witches (1990) and executive producer roles on films such as Truly Madly Deeply (1991), Priest (1995) and Jude (1996). He established Perpetual Motion Pictures in 1997 and later Headline Pictures. Shivas won three BAFTA awards and two Emmys.
