Biography
Marta Cunningham is an American director, writer and producer. A native of Northern California, she began her career in the arts as a ballet dancer with the Peninsula Ballet Theatre in the Bay Area at the age of fourteen, later working as an actress in Los Angeles.
Her debut feature-length documentary Valentine Road (2013), about the 2008 murder of Lawrence King, competed at the Sundance Film Festival, premiered on HBO and received two News & Documentary Emmy Award nominations. Since 2016 she has directed dozens of television episodes, including on Transparent (2016–2017), Insecure (2017), Modern Love (2019), The Wheel of Time (2021) and Chivalry (2022), for which she also served as executive producer.
