Biography
Marthe Keller is a Swiss actress and opera director. Born on 28 January 1945 in Basel, she studied ballet before a skiing accident led her to acting. She trained and worked in Berlin at the Schiller Theatre and the Berliner Ensemble.
Keller's early film roles include an uncredited appearance in Funeral in Berlin (1966) and work in German and French productions. She gained international recognition for her performances in Marathon Man (1976), Black Sunday (1977) and Fedora (1978). Later credits include Hereafter (2010), Page Eight (2011) and One Life (2023) as Betty Maxwell, alongside voice work in Mars Express (2023).
In 2001 she appeared on Broadway in Judgment at Nuremberg and received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress. She has also directed opera.
