Biography
Mary Jackson (22 November 1910 – 10 December 2005) was an American character actress whose career spanned nearly five decades, primarily in television. She was born in Milford, Michigan, and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University in 1932. After briefly teaching school during the Great Depression, she pursued theatre, performing in summer stock in Chicago before moving to stages in New York and Los Angeles.
Jackson began appearing on television in the 1950s and in films in the 1960s. She played Charlotte Thompson in Peter Bogdanovich's Targets (1968). She is best known for her recurring role as Emily Baldwin on the series The Waltons (1972–1981), which she reprised in several reunion television films. Other film roles include Sister Felice in Airport (1970) and appearances in Fun with Dick and Jane (1977). She also guest-starred in numerous series including The Twilight Zone, Columbo and Magnum, P.I..
