Biography
Masao Shimizu was a Japanese actor. He made his film debut in 1931 and appeared in numerous productions until the mid-1970s.
Shimizu formed the Mingei Theatre Company in 1947. His wife was the actress Yumi Takano. He frequently collaborated with director Akira Kurosawa.
Among his notable roles are the doctor in Ikiru (1952), the judge in Scandal (1950), and Masauji Taira in Sansho the Bailiff (1954).
