Biography
Matthew Newman is a British film editor, also credited as Mat Newman. He began his career as a production assistant on Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York (2002) before moving into editing, initially on commercials and television series including episodes of Miss Marple and Doctor Who.
Newman has collaborated extensively with director Nicolas Winding Refn. Their joint credits include Bronson (2009), Valhalla Rising (2009), Drive (2011), Only God Forgives (2013) and The Neon Demon (2016). His editing on Drive received a BAFTA nomination for Best Editing.
Other feature credits include Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018), Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse (2021), Her Private Hell (2026) and Shelter (2026).
