Biography

Max Gail is an American actor born on 5 April 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. He is best known for playing Detective Stan "Wojo" Wojciehowicz in the sitcom Barney Miller (1975–1982), for which he received two consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Gail won Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2019 and 2021 for his role as Mike Corbin in the soap opera General Hospital. His feature film credits include D.C. Cab (1983) as Harold and 42 (2013) as Burt Shotton. He appeared as Roger MacNeil, Forrest's father, in the series Review (2014–2017).

He trained at Williams College, where he earned a BA, and the University of Michigan, where he earned an MBA. Gail began his career on stage, including a role in the original production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
