Biography
Max Terr (1889–1951) was a Russian-born American pianist, arranger, bandleader and film composer. Born in Odessa, he emigrated to the United States as an infant and became active in music from the late 1910s.
He contributed music to early sound films including The Love Parade (1929). Later credits include orchestrations for The Great Dictator (1940) and The Little Foxes (1941), and he composed the march theme for MGM's Metro News. He received an Academy Award nomination for his score to the 1942 version of The Gold Rush.
