Biography
Michael Massee was an American actor born on 1 September 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri, and who died on 20 October 2016 in Los Angeles, California. He grew up partly in France after his family moved there during his childhood, later returning to the United States. He graduated from Hunter College in New York and studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
Massee appeared in films and television for three decades, often in supporting roles. His credits include Funboy in The Crow (1994), a part in Se7en (1995), Andy in David Lynch's Lost Highway (1997), and Gustav Fiers (The Gentleman) in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and its 2014 sequel. On television he played Ira Gaines in the first season of 24 (2001–2002) and recurring roles in series including Rizzoli & Isles.
In March 1993, while filming a scene for The Crow, Massee fired a prop gun that had been improperly prepared, accidentally killing co-star Brandon Lee. The incident was ruled an accident; Massee took a year-long break from acting afterwards.
