Biography
Michael Showalter is an American director, writer, producer and actor. Born on 17 June 1970 in Princeton, New Jersey, he first gained recognition as a cast member on the MTV sketch comedy series The State (1993–1995).
With David Wain he created the Wet Hot American Summer franchise, co-writing and appearing in the 2001 film and later Netflix series. He has directed feature films including The Baxter (2005), Hello, My Name Is Doris (2015), The Big Sick (2017), The Lovebirds (2020) and The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021). He also co-created the television series Search Party and directed episodes of the limited series The Dropout (2022).
