Biography
Mihai Mălaimare Jr. is a Romanian cinematographer. Born in Bucharest in 1975, he is the son of actor and former politician Mihai Mălaimare. He studied at the Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest.
He has worked as director of photography on films including Youth Without Youth (2007), Tetro (2009), Twixt (2011) and Megalopolis (2024) for Francis Ford Coppola; The Master (2012) for Paul Thomas Anderson; Jojo Rabbit (2019) for Taika Waititi; and The Harder They Fall (2021). He was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Cinematography for Youth Without Youth. In 2023 he became a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
