Biography
Mikael Persbrandt is a Swedish actor born on 25 September 1963 in Jakobsberg, Järfälla Municipality, Stockholm County. He began his career in theatre and television, appearing in the Swedish series Rederiet before gaining prominence as Gunvald Larsson in the Beck film series.
Persbrandt is known internationally for his role as Anton in the Academy Award-winning film In a Better World (2010), for which he received a European Film Award nomination for Best Actor. He played Beorn in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014), and Jakob Nyman in the series Sex Education (2019). He has performed at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm and won the Guldbagge Award for Best Actor in a leading role for Everlasting Moments (2008) and Nobody Owns Me (2014). Other credits include The Salvation (2014) and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017).
