Biography
Mike Southon is a British cinematographer. He began his career in the 1970s at the BBC’s film unit at Ealing Studios, working on documentaries and drama. He later became a director of photography on series including Bergerac (1981) and Doctor Who (2005).
Southon has shot more than 250 music videos, including Guns N’ Roses’ ‘November Rain’ (1992), George Michael’s ‘Freedom! ’90’ (1990) and Prince’s ‘Cream’ (1991). His feature credits include Gothic (1987), Little Man Tate (1991), Wuthering Heights (1992), Snow White: A Tale of Terror (1997), the Air Bud films and Replicant (2001). He is a past president of the British Society of Cinematographers and has received BAFTA, ASC and other industry awards and nominations.
