Biography
Mikhail Rasumny was a Russian-born American film and television actor. Born in Odessa in the Russian Empire, he began his theatrical career in Saint Petersburg after his father's death in 1905, later working in Moscow before emigrating to Berlin in 1927. He established Yiddish theatre companies in Paris and New York, and settled in the United States around 1935.
Rasumny's Hollywood career began with Comrade X (1940). He appeared as Ivan Probenzky in Wake Island (1942), Rafael in For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943), Slukey in This Gun for Hire (1942), Ahmed Fey in Road to Morocco (1942), the mechanic in Hold Back the Dawn (1941), the appraiser in The Shanghai Gesture (1941) and Alak in Anna and the King of Siam (1946). He continued working in film and television until his death in 1956. He married Maria Schunzel in 1947.
