Biography
Monica Macer is an American television writer and producer. A Vassar College graduate, she began her career in New York theatre as a playwright and director before moving into film and television development. She worked as an assistant at Nickelodeon Movies and as a creative executive at the Walt Disney Company, later joining the Fox Writers Program.
Macer served as a writers' assistant on 24 and as a staff writer on the first season of Lost (2004), for which the writing team received a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Dramatic Series. She became a story editor and writer on Prison Break (2005), contributing to episodes across its first two seasons. Subsequent credits include executive story editor on the Knight Rider remake (2008) and writing or producing roles on Teen Wolf (2011), Nashville (2012) and Queen Sugar (2016).
She has served as showrunner and executive producer on Gentefied (2020) and MacGyver (2016). Macer is married to actor and filmmaker Sterling Macer Jr.
