Biography

Monika Jacobs is a German costume designer. Born on 29 April 1946, she completed an apprenticeship as a dressmaker before studying at art academies in Vienna and Berlin. She began working in theatre and from 1977 also designed costumes for film and television.

Her credits include Rainer Werner Fassbinder's Querelle (1982), Wim Wenders' Wings of Desire (1987) and several films by Tom Tykwer, beginning with Deadly Maria (1993) and continuing with Run Lola Run (1998), The Princess and the Warrior (2000) and Heaven (2002). Other notable work encompasses The Last Station (2009) and Night Train to Lisbon (2013). She received a German Film Award nomination in 2011 for Lessons of a Dream.
