Biography
Montagu Love, also credited as Montague Love or Harry Montague Love, was an English actor and illustrator. He began his career as a newspaper illustrator and military correspondent in London before moving into stage work. His Broadway debut came in 1913, and he appeared in numerous silent films in the 1920s, frequently cast as villains.
In sound films Love played supporting roles including Henry VIII in The Prince and the Pauper (1937), the Bishop of the Black Canons in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), Monsieur Cavaignac in The Life of Emile Zola (1937), Don Alejandro Vega in The Mark of Zorro (1940), and Colonel Weed in Gunga Din (1939). He also appeared in The Sea Hawk (1940) and The Devil and Miss Jones (1941). Love died in Beverly Hills, California, in 1943.
