Biography
Nancy Gates (born Nancy Jane Gates) was an American film and television actress. Born in Dallas, Texas, on 1 February 1926, she signed a contract with RKO Studios at the age of 15 and made her screen debut in 1942.
She appeared in numerous B-movies, often westerns, and had supporting roles in Suddenly (1954) and Some Came Running (1958), both starring Frank Sinatra. Other notable film credits include Comanche Station (1960). She also made more than fifty television appearances, including episodes of Perry Mason, Bonanza and Gunsmoke.
Gates retired from acting in 1969. She was married to Hollywood attorney J. William Hayes from 1948 until his death in 1992; they had four children.
