Biography
Ned Sparks, born Edward Arthur Sparkman, was a Canadian character actor of the American stage and screen.
He appeared in Broadway productions from 1912 and in films from 1915, making his sound debut in The Big Noise (1928). In the 1930s he became known for dour-faced, sarcastic roles, often cigar-chomping, in films including 42nd Street (1933) as Barry, Lady for a Day (1933) as Happy McGuire and Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933) as Barney Hopkins. He appeared in around 90 pictures up to 1947.
