Biography
Nicholas Mallett (6 May 1945 – 30 January 1997) was a British television director. Born in Norwich, Norfolk, he trained initially as a ballet dancer before an injury prompted a move into television. He joined the BBC in the early 1970s as an assistant floor manager on programmes such as Warship and advanced to production assistant by 1975, with credits including Blake's 7.
Mallett directed three Doctor Who serials between 1986 and 1989: The Mysterious Planet (part of The Trial of a Time Lord, starring Colin Baker), Paradise Towers and The Curse of Fenric (both starring Sylvester McCoy). He also directed episodes of Crossroads, Children's Ward and The Bill. He died in Wandsworth, London, aged 51.
