Biography
Nick Glennie-Smith was an English film score composer, conductor and musician. Born in London on 3 October 1951, he began his career as a keyboardist, performing and recording with artists including Cliff Richard, Roger Waters and Paul McCartney before moving into film music in the late 1980s.
He collaborated frequently with Hans Zimmer and was associated with Remote Control Productions, conducting scores for films including Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) and Transformers (2007). Glennie-Smith composed the scores for The Rock (1996, shared with Zimmer and Harry Gregson-Williams), The Man in the Iron Mask (1998), We Were Soldiers (2002) and Secretariat (2010), among others. He died on 16 August 2026 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
