Biography
Nick Laws is a British producer, production manager and assistant director. Born in India on 9 May 1958, he began his career as a post boy at 20th Century Fox in London before working as a production runner on Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980). He progressed through assistant director roles on films including Superman III (1983), David Lean's A Passage to India (1984) and several projects with Michael Winterbottom.
Laws moved into production management on Sally Potter's Yes (2004) and served as production supervisor or manager on The Constant Gardener (2005) and Blood Diamond (2006). He produced Andrea Arnold's short Dog (2001) and her feature Fish Tank (2009), which won the Jury Prize at Cannes and the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film. He has worked as line producer or co-executive producer on series including Narcos: Mexico (2018–2021) and The Mosquito Coast (2021–2023).
