Biography
Nicolas Chartier is a French film producer. In 2005 he founded Voltage Pictures, a Los Angeles-based production, financing and distribution company, where he serves as CEO. He began his career in France, working as a janitor at Disneyland Paris before selling a screenplay and relocating to Los Angeles, where he held sales and acquisitions roles.
Chartier produced The Hurt Locker (2008), Voltage Pictures' first in-house production. The film won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, as well as BAFTA and Producers Guild of America awards. He was executive producer on Dallas Buyers Club (2013) and has produced or executive produced numerous other films, including Don Jon (2013), Wind River (2017), I Feel Pretty (2018) and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019).
Chartier was barred from attending the 2010 Academy Awards ceremony after sending an email to Academy members urging them to vote for The Hurt Locker over a higher-budget film.
